Already March??

This year is just flying by! I can't believe we've already had an entire week of the best month ever...march! my birthday is saturday and i'm looking forward to a lovely dinner and going out with the favorites!

The lifestyle change is still going well. 17 pounds down, 13 to go! I bought a size 8 pants for work, which is a size i haven't worn...ever? in elementary school i went from wearing spandex, stirrup pants (yes, sad, i know!) that didn't have numbered sizes, to a size 9 jeans in 6th grade. so, that was a pretty exciting development! I'm a little frustrated at the rate of my weight loss as Slimgenics guarantees losing 3-5 lbs per week, plus i've started working out 5 times a week...i really thought it would come off a little faster...but i guess as long as it's coming off i shouldn't complain, right? when i had my consultation on Dec 31st, she said i could be at my goal by march 12th...that's this friday. that might also be adding to my disappointment...that i'm only a little over halfway done when i could have been at my goal already. but that would have been by following the plan perfectly which is difficult to do. so, i'll just have to be really, really good for a few weeks. my new goal will be easter. that seems doable!

on another note...i really need a concert...i got this new camera, mostly for that reason, and i haven't even had a show to go to to try it out yet! we're hoping to go to dave barnes on april 14th...i love him! his new cd is amazing and i listened to it all weekend. *swoon* i also really hope that rascal flatts is planning to come back soon...i just love them so much...i'm going through withdrawls.

al and i went to some houses in the parade of homes yesterday. it was fun! i love looking at the layouts, and also how they are decorated. i got a lot of good ideas, although i won't be able to put them to use for a few years. and by then, my tastes will probably have changed!

goodness, my blogs are random...i'll need to start sorting out my thoughts before logging in!

so far so good!

last night, kaarin, jeremy, sarah, and jass come over for game night! it was fun to just hang out and chat and relax. not to mention, my team kicked butt! they all brought snacks, and i was so proud of myself for not touching a single cracker! i really am motivated to stay on track this time! this morning al asked if i wanted to go to this new brazilian restaurant with him...and i said no! even though i would love to try it out, i'll just have to wait a few months.

tonight em, becky and i are going to a "bacon party". i will not be taste-testing any of the dishes, although i'm sure they will all be delightful...i gotta stick to my guns. so far, everyone has been supportive! can't wait to see where this leads!

here's how i've been feeling the last few days:

tiredness throughout the day...6
energy level...6
irritability...5
ease of waking up...8
quality of sleep...6

i've been in a pretty good mood as well. even yesterday afternoon when i helped out in a class of "at risk" 2nd and 3rd graders, my patience stayed high. normally with kids like that i get very annoyed very quickly, but i just took it all in stride. it probably helped that there were three adults in the class too ;)

i need to get back to knitting...i have about 4 projects that i keep putting off...but they need to get done! i'll add pics of my creations soon!

the d word

well, i'm doing it...the dreaded d word...that's right. DIET! but let's not call it that...let's call it a "lifestyle change". that sounds so much more appealing! i'm on my third day of "prep" as they call it at slimgenics, where i spent a chunk of moolah for them to help me as i obviously cannot do it myself. tonight i have my personal consultation and a class about portion sizes and what else the program entails that we didn't cover the first time around. i think this will be good. having to talk to someone and be accountable to others will be a nice motivator. i don't like it when strangers are disappointed in me, so i'd better not disappoint! Em said i should keep a journal of moods and how i'm feeling every day so i can look back and see how the "lifestyle change" is affecting me other than just losing weight. so, here it is. i'm making categories and will rate each topic 1-10. i may just comment on my own post every day so i'm not just writing boring diet posts everyday...we'll see how it works out later...

so, here's how i would rate things before the "lifestyle change":

tiredness throughout the day...8
energy level...4
irritability...7
ease of waking up...9
quality of sleep...4

and my ratings today, day three:
tiredness...6
energy level...5
irritability...7
ease of waking up...7
quality of sleep...5
and my mood? the same...just ok.

the biggest thing i've noticed so far, is that after eating eggs for breakfast, i leave the house more awake, alert and ready for the day. i dreaded having to wake up and actually cook myself something instead of just grabbing a bagel, but, surprisingly, i almost enjoyed it!

i'll let you know how the meeting goes, i have high hopes!
